The youth of today is a very important subject not only in a society but in the circle of life for the continuation of our culture as human beings. As cliché as it may sound the reality is our youth are the future and will make the difference in how we see today and how tomorrow will be. Music education programs have eroded in many cities and communities across the country over the past 30 years. Urban Youth Performing Arts Center, Inc. (UYPAC) is dedicated to raising public awareness about the importance of music participation for our nations youth to ensure all children have access to quality education that includes music.
Research has shown that musical study develops critical thinking and self discipline skills improves a child’s early cognitive development, basic math and reading abilities, self-esteem, SAT scores, ability to work in teams, spatial reasoning skills, as well as school attendance. It has also been reported that children involved with music education are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college, less likely to be involved with gangs and substance abuse. The goal of UYPAC is to provide A place for young adults to learn about musical instruments and showcase their talents-using music as a medium for life-changing possibilities and opportunities for young people with diverse talents, spending ages 8-19 and who are of multiple racial and or ethnic background.
Conclusively, Urban Youth Performing Arts Center, Inc. (UYPAC) is working for the benefit of its students, artists and performers: to provide a place to expose and enhance their talent, and to entertain an audience of all ages and cultures. With these and many other elements UYPAC will continue to grow and prosper beyond the standards of excellence!
